Planting and Care Instructions for Giant Red Cherry Saplings
Giant Red Cherry Saplings are an excellent choice for anyone looking to grow delicious and nutritious cherries. Below are the key points to help you successfully cultivate healthy trees in India’s varied climates.
To ensure your Giant Red Cherry saplings establish quickly and reward you with large, sweet fruits, follow our simple planting and care guidelines. This will give you confidence in successful cultivation and the joy of a bountiful harvest in India’s unique growing conditions.
1. Choosing the Best Time to Plant:
Cherry saplings can be planted any time of the year, but for the best results, we recommend planting during the current month. This will improve the saplings’ survival rate and speed up their adaptation to the soil, especially in India’s varied climates.
2. Planting the Saplings:
Our saplings have been pre-treated with fertilizers and insecticides, so no additional feeding is necessary during the first year. The soil in which our saplings are grown already contains essential nutrients to support strong growth and healthy development.
Dig a hole about 60 cm wide and deep to comfortably accommodate the sapling’s root system. If the soil is heavy or clayey, make the hole deeper—around 70-80 cm—and add a 10-15 cm drainage layer at the bottom, such as gravel or sand. When planting multiple cherry saplings, maintain a distance of at least 3-4 meters between trees to prevent shading and allow ample space for canopy growth.
Place the sapling into the hole, gently spreading out the roots. The root collar (where the trunk meets the roots) should be at soil level or 2–3 cm above it to prevent the tree from being planted too deep as the soil settles.
Fill the hole with soil, gently pressing it down by hand to eliminate air pockets that could dry out the roots.
After planting, water the sapling with 2–3 buckets of water to thoroughly moisten the soil around the roots.
3. Caring for the Saplings
Young saplings need special attention during their first year:
Watering: After planting, water the tree well to help the soil settle and roots absorb moisture. In the following weeks, monitor soil moisture closely, especially during the first three weeks after planting, as consistent watering is crucial in India’s dry and hot spells.
Mulching: It is recommended to mulch the base of the sapling with organic materials like straw or wood chips. Mulching helps retain moisture and suppress weeds. However, avoid placing mulch directly against the trunk to prevent rot, especially in humid areas.
Pruning: Annual pruning promotes a healthy canopy and improves fruit yield.

4. Quality Inspection of Saplings
During transportation, saplings are delivered without leaves to preserve their nutrients. This does not affect their ability to take root. To check the quality of a sapling, gently scratch the stem — beneath the bark, you should see moist, white wood.
With our Giant Red Cherry saplings, you can enjoy your harvest as early as the year after planting! Follow our guidelines, and your orchard will reward you with sweet and juicy cherries without demanding complicated care.
Next, we place the saplings in a special solution containing pest control agents and micronutrients that stimulate rapid growth in spring. The plants remain in this solution for 12–16 hours. Therefore, we DO NOT RECOMMEND adding any substances to avoid conflicts between active ingredients — everything necessary is already included.
We apply a plant-safe antiseptic to the cut area. This promotes healing and protects against bacteria, viruses, moisture, and cold.
Many nurseries ship saplings without proper packaging, but we care deeply about your future trees and carefully pack them in sturdy, triple-layer cardboard boxes. This ensures the plants won’t break or get damaged during transit.
First, we select only the healthiest plants with well-developed roots and strong stems. We remove the leaves because they would fall off during transportation anyway, but meanwhile, they would drain energy from the stem and roots.
Then, we trim the top of the stem to promote better survival and encourage faster growth after planting.

PACKAGING AND DELIVERY OF CHERRY SAPLINGS
After that, we pack the roots in specially prepared humus enriched with fertilizers, hydroperlite, and minerals. WE RECOMMEND not discarding the humus packaging — instead, pour it into the bottom of the planting hole. The nutrients it contains will serve as natural fertilizer for your sapling.
Next, we tightly wrap the saplings in thermal vacuum film, attach labels with the variety name and a brief description, then cushion them with packing paper before shipping to you.
Wishing you a successful and rewarding cultivation!
